Hi Steve
How do you set a web page up? One like you put my racing pictures on. I have a mixture of pictures that I would like to use over time as my pictures on the forum and thought if I had my own page then I would not have to annoy people by keep asking for links.
1 other thing Steve - you know the picture that your sent me of Gordon a while back the one with his hair sticking up a bit in the middle does that have a link that I could use - thats if you not mind me using from time to time ;D
Thanks Sandra

Hi Sandra, no problem. If you only want to use it for storage then it's very simple. I'll go and have another look at the process for opening a freebie account and I'll write the steps down and post them later.

Okay, so to open a freebie Angelfire account, these are the steps: 1. Go to www.angelfire.lycos.com/2. Top of page - click on New Users - Sign Up 3. Halfway down page on left - click on Angelfire Free You are now at the registration stage, so... 4. Choose an extension to follow the first part of the address (choose from drop-down menu) Your address so far looks like this: www.angelfire.com/whatever/5. Now choose another extension to follow that one - type whatever you want at this point Your address now looks like this: www.angelfire.com/whatever/whateveragain/6. Now choose a password and then complete the rest of the form. You can write any old nonsense in here if you want to. If I was setting up a business website then I would put my correct details in there, but any other time I would just invent a name and address, so please yourself on that one. 7. Be sure to uncheck all of the free offers down at the bottom of that page, otherwise you will get loads of spam. Well I think that is about it - I didn't go any further because I don't want to actually create a second account, but after that it is straightforward enough. The next thing you need to know is how to login and how to start uploading files so I will cover that in a separate post.

So you have opened a freebie Angelfire account and you have the address for it, which is the one you chose earlier, which looks like this: www.angelfire.com/whatever/whateveragain/In order to login, just go to www.angelfire.lycos.com/ and at the very top of the page, click on Members: Login Now enter your username. Your username is the two parts of the address which you chose earlier so that would look like this: whatever/whateveragain Now enter your password and it will log you in. Just in case that last part isn't clear - here is my Angelfire address: www.angelfire.com/electronic2/steve_c/So therefore my username is: electronic2/steve_c Okay so you are now logged-in and you can start uploading files. Just scroll down to the bottom of the page (the page which appears automatically after you login) until you see the File Upload section. Click on Browse and locate the file which you want to upload, and then click on Upload. When you are all finished uploading, you will see a Logout tab at the very top of that page, so just click it to logout. Now to access that file externally - say if you want to use it as an avatar - just add the filename after your website address. Let's say the file was called racing_car.jpg well the address for that will now be: www.angelfire.com/whatever/whateveragain/racing_car.jpgWell that's about it. Needless to say, if you have any questions, just ask. Have fun.

Hmmm. Well as a general rule, anything up to and including the .com is not case-sensitive, but anything which comes after that is very case-sensitive, so if you have any capital letters in the filenames then you will need to use them the same way in the address. For that reason, I try to always use lowercase and then it doesn't become a problem.

I think I spotted it - you have spelled angle instead of angel - if you change that it should be ok.

I'll post the address for the windswept Gordon photo later (when I find it).
Once you've got everything up and running, I'll take the banger photos out of my Angelfire account and you can run them from there eh.

Well done Sandra, it works!
That is indeed the church, I've walked right by there many times. You will notice that the picture is taking a while to load (well it is for me because I'm only on dial-up). We can do something about that though by reducing the filesize. There are loads of options there so I'll maybe give you a few suggestions tomorrow.
Great quality photo though.

The pictures are ones I took when I visited Goathland - will change them every so often - all the pictures are one that I have taken. I can't wait to get up to Yorkshire again - I want to go to Scarborough this year as well - with the hope that I might just get to see a certain man (and lady) while there. I sure that you can guess who I on about I just brought a new digital camera it like my 35mm one - the pics are of amazing quality

Hi Sandra, this is the picture of Gordon which you were looking for. Link: www.freewebs.com/steve_c3/tr001/tr014.jpgIf you save that to your computer and then upload it to Angelfire, you will be able to use it as an avatar from there.
