We have just seen the series 13 episode of the death of Gina and Phil's son. Brilliantly acted and quite touching and yes David's sobbing caused me to cry a few tears. Great emotion created during the last scene where Phil walks into the bar sobbing, Gina looks at him and then she breaks into tears. I don't see how Phil and Gina's relationship will survive.
I am trying to keep from reading any storylines since those in the U.K. are ahead of us here but it's not always easy.

All I can say is that Diane and Oscar made a nice couple .My brother was annoyed at Diane going through the baby clothes for Gina which was n`t nice but well meant. And poor Phil saves Ben`s life and not a thank-you for him, it seemed that Dennis was the only one on the scene who offered him some comfort. My brother said and I agreed on the naming of Daniel and the instrumental Danny boy playing throughout Phil and Gina`s scenes. Nice touch Daniel holding unto Phil`s finger then eventually letting go and then scene of Gina singing Danny boy as a lullaby to wee Daniel with Phil holding her, beautiful and sweet. I can`t stand watching dead babies or men crying as the former gives men the creeps and I want to comfort the latter.

Ironically Canada is about nine months behind in the Heartbeat episodes.

Hello Mike - it was a pleasant surprise to find you here! I am sure that we corresponded several years ago about Heartbeat videos available in Oshawa. My spouse and I have remained loyal HB fans. I was dreading the episode aired last night on TVO. (I had "cheated" and read about it on another site before it was aired here in Ontario.) The music "Danny Boy" really got to me. Mark and Tricia did a suberb job on that one! I noticed that the writer of the episode was Jane Hollowood. She also wrote the episode in which Kate died. She really knows how to get the tears flowing. It sounds like there are lots of changes coming up on future episodes and in the next series - long live HB! A fellow fan in Port Dover, Ontario.

Greetings to all and yes Gazebo I remember you. If I recall we were corresponding about the Changing Places Heartbeat movie.
Even with all the character changes, I too have remained a loyal fan. I try not to read the storylines from the U.K. but sometimes it's not easy. I guess in Series 14, there are a number of cast changes. I'm disappointed in learning that Vernon will leave. Oops I hope I didn't give it away!
Kate's death was a bit more emotional for me but both epidoes were fab and Mark and Tricia were outstanding. Excellent observation about the same writer having written those two emotional episodes.

Sadly this is because I believe actor Geoffrey Hughes who plays him has got cancer.

Hi Sarah.
That's terrible news. I noticed that he wasn't in a few episodes in our current series 13 though I know actors ae given some time off but it seemed he missed quite a few and I wondered if he was ill.
I hope if it's true, he can recover quickly.

Sadly this is because I believe actor Geoffrey Hughes who plays him has got cancer. No, he had a cancer scare. It made him realise that he needed to stop working and spend more time with his family. He's fine, but it's true he will leave in episode 15 of this series, which is in about 2 episodes time.

I sure hope Geoffrey is okay. It's understandable a scare like that can make you re-think your priorities. Also, he's not the most healthy looking of individuals and a job like acting can be quite demanding. How, ironic how the man he replaced, Claude (Bill Maynard) had to leave because he suffered a stroke. Geoffrey I believe is only about 60 years old.
