Thanks Steve I understand it now. I will try out the mail thing later. Right now I'm afraid I have yet another question. This is the homepage I've done for the school website (with the name of the school removed ) www.geocities.com/spy_master100880/Homepage.htmlNow as you can c I used frames 2 have like a menu bar and then the main page, which looks gr8 etc. Unfortunately when I click on a link in the menu bar it opens the page in that frame menu bar thing, or it did b4 I added the extra bit of html that made it open in a new window, but this is far from ideal. So I was wondering if you knew how to make it open the page in the same window, sort of just ignore the fact that it's a different frame and change the whole window menu bar included like when you click a link on a normal page. I'm not particularly attached 2 the frame but I think I stated in an earlier post why I used it, it was 2 well make it look like that lol and also to make it look the same on all PC's, the text not dissappering behind the menu for example. Any help ideas etc, that you can give me will be as always very gratefully appreciated Spy_Master100880

I don't know how to do that, SpyMaster - i.e. have the new page open in the same window, but without the frame. Even if I did, I think it would be a real bad idea to do it, because then it would raise the question of why you used a frame in the first place if you're not gonna make use of it. So I'd scrap the frame idea straight away.
There is an option to make your main page headline into a single wide graphic, which incorporates the logo - title - logo but it would all be one single wide jpeg or gif. You know what I mean? Place the two logos in position, with the title between, then take a screen print and paste into a graphics editor. Select the portion of interest, copy and paste as a new image and maybe add a border around it and then that's taken care of.
It should also be possible to modify the table slightly so that the text doesn't become obscured at lower resolutions, but I haven't tried that yet.
I'll try creating that same page another way and I'll get back to you when it's done and see what you think.
How much time do you have on this one? Is the deadline tomorrow or the end of next week or what?

I made that test page, SpyMaster, here's the link:
www.freewebs.com/steve_c8/history.htm
It's based on a table, but I added a fourth column to put the menu into. I've specified column widths (as percentages) and that prevents the text in between the logos from being obcured when the page is re-sized.
I haven't set a limit on the vertical size of the table, so by default it will be 100%. If you want to work in the free space on the page as it is right now, then you will be working within the confines of the table columns. If you want to free up some space then you can set a limit to the vertical size of the table using height="x%" - that would be added at the start of the code, where it says width="100%" - the space below the table will then be available to work in as normal.
Let me know if this is getting closer to what you were looking for. If it is, and if you want any help modifying it then just let me know.
Here's the source code, with comments to make it easier to follow - you can edit those or remove them altogether if you want, as they don't have any effect on how the page is displayed. <html> <head> <title>History Website</title> </head>
<body bgcolor="#87CEEB"><align="center">
<!-- Note 1: Create table, width 100%, then specify width for each column -->
<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"> <tr>

Steve it looks fantastic and the buttons are just how I want them, but the problem I'm still having is with the text. Not the text between the logos that was always fine perhaps I didn't explain myself properly, it was the text next to the menu getting obscured when the page was resized. At the moment the way you have done it I can't make the text go next 2 the menu, it always goes underneath or above. I'm sorry, perhaps what I want 2 achieve cna't be done and I'm wasting your time. Your realy nice to spend any time on it at all. Thanks Spy_Master100880

No problem, SpyMaster, we have until September to get it right. I'm not sure what you mean by 'text next to the menu'. Do you mean text adjacent to the menu which relates to the menu, or are you talking about text out in the main portion of the page, like in this example? This text isn't really on the page by the way, I just added it using a graphics editor but we can put it there for real if that's what you are looking for.

that's exactly what I mean Steve, text in the main portion of the page, next 2 the menu, like that. When I try 2 add it, I have 2 put spaces and then when it's resized the menu obscures the text. Love ur lack of commas lol. Thanks Spy_Master100880

Is this closer to what you are looking for, SpyMaster?
Link: www.freewebs.com/steve_c8/history2.htm
We can keep on fine-tuning this until you have exactly what you want, so let me know if it still isn't right. If it is what you're looking for, then just ask if you want any help modifying it.
Here's the code:
<html> <head> <title>History Website</title> </head>
<body bgcolor="#87CEEB"><align="center">
<!-- Note 1: Create table with three columns, (Logo-Title-Logo) then specify width for each column -->
<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%" height="15%">
<!-- Note 2: Now set width for first column (logo) at 25% --> <!-- Note 3: Place left logo within this first column -->
<tr> <td align="center" valign="top" width="25%"><img src="http://img46.photobucket.com/albums/v140/steve_c/logo.gif" align="top" width="154" height="154"></td>
<!-- Note 4: Now set width for second column (title text) at 50% --> <!-- Note 5: Place date script and title text within this second column -->
<td align="center" valign="top" width="50%">
<!-- Note 6: Date script starts here -->
<script>
var mydate=new Date() var year=mydate.getYear() if (year < 1000) year+=1900 var day=mydate.getDay() var month=mydate.getMonth() var daym=mydate.getDate() if (daym<10) daym="0"+daym var dayarray=new Array("Sunday","Monday","Tuesday","Wednesday","Thursday","Friday","Saturday") var montharray=new Array("January","February","March","April","May","June","July","August","September","October","November","December") document.write("<small><font color='0000CD' face='Arial'><b>"+dayarray[day]+", "+montharray[month]+" "+daym+", "+year+"</b></font></small>")
</script>
<!-- Note 7: Date script ends here -->
<!-- Note 8: Now put the title text (still in the same column) -->

<p>Made in the same year as <i>The Prisoner</i>, <i>Man in a Suitcase</i> is yet another ITC series that has withstood the test of time. Possibly the least well known classic of the shows of the sixties, it starred Richard Bradford as ex-CIA agent McGill (his first name is never revealed).</p>
<p>Thrown out of the CIA for something he did not do, he now works in London as a private investigator who will take care of your problems as long as the price is right. The show was a lot more straightforward than <i>The Prisoner</i> or <i>The Avengers</i>, relying simply on good stories and an action/adventure format.</p>
<p>Although some episodes were directed by John Glen, the show managed to stay well away from the James Bond elements which were sometimes seen in <i>The Saint</i> and <i>Danger Man</i>. Bradford himself gives an excellent and underrated performance as McGill and has gone on to various films including <i>The Untouchables</i>, and was the Captain in the pilot of the doomed US series <i>Earth2</i>.</p>

that looks fantastic steve, exactly what I want, well in terms of text anyway lol. I'll have a look and a fiddle around with it some more and get back 2 u if I need any more help. oh one thing, can I use the buttons u have created and 2 how exactly did u create them, that might sound dumb, but the way I would create a button like that is not the best way of doing it, so I'm asking the expert lol Thanks Steve, ur brilliant Spy_Master100880

That's good, SpyMaster, we got there in the end eh. Yep you could use the buttons, but you won't want to when you see what else is available and how easy it is. I used this button generator.
Here's a google search for more button generators - there are endless sites to choose from.
They all work pretty much the same - select the style, select the colour, type in your text and in a few seconds it will generate a button gif, which you then Save As, and later upload to your host. Easy peasy.
You know I never mind when you ask questions, so just ask away if you get stuck on anything.

Okay, so what we would normally put in the html source code is this:
<a href="mailto:autoforward@email.com">Contact me</a>
That's no use for our purposes because it contains both mailto and @ and the bots will spot it.
Now go to this conversion page
Link: www.wbwip.com/wbw/emailencoder.html
and convert mailto into a decimal value, and also @ into a decimal value and then substitute them into your source code.
The source code now contains neither mailto nor @ and therefore the bots should skip over that section and be unaware that it's an e-mail address.
If you give that a try, and then run the cursor over your e-mail link, you will still see the standard format e-mail address (e.g. mailto:autoforward@email.com) down in the status bar - but remember the bots can't do that - they can only search within the source code - and within there it is encrypted. Let me know if you have any questions on that.
I do have questions on this lol, I don't understand it, I have been 2 the link and still don't get it. I don't know if I'm missing something, but I'm not sure what 2 do. Spy_Master100880

That's good news about the website, SpyMaster, I'm sure you've made a great job of it.
It's my fault you didn't follow the e-mail encryption because I didn't explain it too well. It's difficult to explain how it works in here because if I type an encrypted address, your browser will just automatically decrypt it and it won't make any sense at all. I'll make a test page with an encrypted e-mail link on it and put it on Freewebs and then you can have a look at the source code and you will see exactly how it works. I'll try to do that in the next day or two and I'll post a link on here.

Steve I've been trying 4 the last few days 2 get my handheld computer connected 2 the internet via the modem on my computer. I've tried everything I can think of at least twice and I can't find any online documentation 2 help me, so I'm asking the resident genius whos helped me so many times in the past 2 help. I don't even know if it's possible, but it should be right. I've been trying 2 get my handheld networked on my PC with bluetooth and I can exhange files and stuff but not a lot more than that. My handheld is an hp iPaq5550 my computer runs windows xp and my ISP is aol. I have a bluetooth USB adapter from Belkin rather than a card in as USB slot. I don't know what 2 do anymore, I know I shouldn't ask u but u r a genius, now I understand y networking is the PC users worst nightmare. Thanks Spy_Master100880
