YTV have confirmed the new sergeant is going to be called Sgt Miller and is played by actor John Duttine, born 15 March 1949 in Barnsley, W Yorks. Sgt Miller is going to be more 'old school' like Blaketon. John has appeared in Heartbeat before, playing MP Paul Melthorn in Series 1 episode 'Face Value'. This is not the same person that Mz had her picture taken with.

Well if you look at John Duttine's picture - he doesn't look like the photo of the 'policeman' with the girl.
Perhaps he is going to be another fill in policemen like Tom Nichols was?

Well the pic on TV Tome to me looks like he got a wig on and the tash is false and we all know how hair can make a difference to a persons face.
It could well be him (with out tash and extra hair) - guess we just have to watch Heartbeat to find out ;D

In last Sundays The Mail paper there is a seperate bit of the paper called Property on Sunday and the centre page is all about John Duttine who has to move from Cornwall to Yorkshire so that he is closer when they filming. There is a picture of him in his uniform as the new sarg. Would scan it but my mum got my scanner at the mo sorry.

Sgt George Miller is played by John Duttine Rugged, handsome George Miller is without question an old school kind of copper. Miller comes from a high crime area in York where he’s used to reigning with a rod of iron. His developed air of authority, which often hints at a menacing undercurrent, instils caution in those who have dealings with him, both staff and villains alike. He trusts his own gut instincts and often has the measure of a man within the first few moments of meeting. Once formed, his opinions of people rarely change. This stubborn self-confidence can occasionally catch him out, but it is not something he would openly admit to, even if he acknowledges it inwardly. He arrives in Aidensfield to take on his last post before retirement - and he definitely intends to rule his own roost. Miller has a sarcastic wit, and will not shy away from straight-talking if he deems it necessary. So when he comes face to face with a wild card like PC Rob Walker, sparks look set to fly... However, he eventually settles into the country way of life, and finds It doesn't say if he has a family or not.
